The Big Spring Rally was held at Smeaton Lakes Touring, Caravan and Fishing Park, Great North Road, Newark

45 members in 30 vans, 9 dogs and one travelling cat joined us for a lovely weekend. Three new members joined us, it was great to meet them for the first time. We had a variety of units including: Romini, C15 Hi and Lo, Duo, Auto Sleeper, R30, caravans, Troopers, Mezan, Scudo, Folding Camper, Nu-Venture .... and others that I've forgotten

Some members arrived a little earlier as the site allowed for early arrivals at rally prices. Others arrived on Friday or Saturday.

Beautiful sunny weather welcomed us to a lovely rally field on the edge of fishing lakes surrounded by trees and walking paths. Just a short stroll took you to the banks of the river Trent where you could walk further.

A 30 minute walk or 10 minute bus ride took you into the heart of Newark town. Further afield were the Newark Air Museum and Newark Showground.

Friday evening we had our customary mass barbecue with those who had one sharing with those who didn't. The weather stayed dry while people ate and had a good chat but around 9pm spots of rain had people rushing for their vans.

Saturday was another lovely day and people did their own thing. Some visited the Air Museum, some stayed on site some strolled or bussed into town.

Saturday evening we had booked the on site club house to hold our bring and share supper. We had been told it held 60 people, well yes it probably did but what they didn't tell us that it didn't have that many chairs! There were about 30 chairs so unfortunately some members had to sit on tables - apologies to those, it was beyond our control and had we known we would have suggested bringing camping chairs.

Nonetheless everyone seemed to have a good time and although there seemed a mountain of food on the table at the start by the end it was almost all gone! A wonderful spread with an amazing variety of foods.

Graham, Rob and Doug slipped out after the meal to walk into town in the hope of watching Notts County v Coventry in the League 2 Football playoffs. They found a pub and enjoyed most of the match until the pub, in their great wisdom decided that starting a disco, completely with smoke machine, under the TV was a good idea Anyway they did just about manage to watch the whole match and it ended 1 -1

Sunday it was time for many to leave but a few did stay on until Monday.

Another great meet, thank you all for attending
