Suzuki Supercarry campervan needs new engine

Sorry if this is the wrong place to write this. My beloved 97 reg suzuki supercarry campervan needs a new engine. My garage has been searching the market but no joy at moment. Heartbreakingly broke down on the m3. Luckily we were ok and no accidents caused. The cam shaft had ceased and shredded the belt. Totally heartbroken. I can’t imagine letting it go or going on another type of holiday. If anyone knows where or one for sale please let me know. Thank you. Diane

Surely allowing for the age and low power of the Super Carry it would be a good idea to be looking for a 1.3 Carry engine. Younger and a bit more oomph.
I put Suzuki Carry breaking into ebay search and found 3.

Pretty sure it's a different engine - the 97 carry is very different from the later model I think.
Can't help you on sourcing one sorry. I do follow the older rascals on facebook, and someone on there bought an engine from china complete...but again no help to you. you may be better off posting on the facebook rascal/supercarry group.

Less likely although same class of truck the HiJet is a different manufacturer and to the best of my knowledge NO COMMON PARTS.

I know it wouldn't be cheaper, but what about moving the pod onto a new base vehicle? There are several flat beds that will take the Roma pod. I think Jon could probably recommend some, and other demountable owners. You'd be good to go again then.

Must admit, that was my thought. At 22 years old, is the body good enough to be worth putting a new engine in? I believe it is relatively easy to swap a demountable to a newer vehicle.

Maybe Diane-4-suzki will enlighten us, but maybe I am mistaken I thought from these words (My beloved 97 reg suzuki supercarry campervan needs a new engine.) that her van is one of the little van based micro campers.

Totally agree with jayjay and Caz if it is a Romahome pod the solution is change the truck and upgrade. Either a Suzuki Carry, HiJet / Piaggio or a DFSK.

Thank you all for replying. It’s a van based camper van by drive lodge with a pop top. . Luckily we are going to view an engine soon so if it sounds good we will purchase it. I know my camper is old but I am very much attached to it. The way I see it is that I am investing in more happy holidays.

                        you could try
derekfoxrainham at aol dot com he's a rascal specialist,or at least he was, and works on supercarrys, he doesn't work on the modern mk 3 supercarry's.
alternatively try Suzuki forum on facebook. I wonder what damage to the engine been caused?
                        Good luck!!

Sorry, I misunderstood, I thought it was a Romahome demountable.

It is very cute, I'm not surprised that you want to keep it going as long as possible.
