    C15 shock!

I've just had an insurance quote for my C15.

After looking around, I got it from £822 to £441. But what a high cost! I nearly fainted! This is for a van, but social, domestic & pleasure use only. There won't be any refitting.

This is nearly double what I've been paying for my old Romahome; I will be selling the C15 if I can't get the insurance cheaper.

Has anyone got any ideas? I'm in my thirties, been driving since I was 19, no claims or convictions. Any suggestions welcome.

I've just renewed my '95 C15 with Lifesure. 01480 402460 for much less than that.

Try Compton Leisure - I think quite a lot of people on here use them.

        Also try Adrian Flux.

        Hope you get it cheaper!

I got a more reasonable £366 through Lifesure.

            I'm keeping it now!

I paid £145 fully comp for a F reg C15d with motor and home direct based in Torquay, speak to Emma.

I paid £175 for business use on a 2002 Kangoo via Swinton.

I'd hope you could find a premium of under £200 for your van. Daft as it sounds, possibly the SD&P cover is pushing up the cost: very few insurers offer this so it's an uncompetitive niche. I would run the quote through again but ensuring your use is 'carriage of own goods' and see if the premium falls.

                  Sorted now!

£366, still quite a lot, but I don't think I'll ever be able to find another like it. So it's staying.

Looking at the variation in these quotes - and assuming we are all safe sensible drivers with full no - claims - then it strikes me -the insurance market is having us on - but what's new?

                        It's hardly news, sadly!

Basically, the point of insurance companies is they are betting you won't make a claim. Madness, if you think about it.

Mine's paid for now. I will look again next year. Ho hum.
