    Help Converting a Seat Alhambra

    Hi there!

While I save my pennies (or cents) for my Romahome I am thinking about converting the Seat Alhambra I bought last month to a camping car. Five of the seven seats come out leaving quite a roomy compartment, big enough to put a six foot mattress in. Could anyone give me tips on what I should use to cover the windows and what I could do for heat? I only hope to do short overnights in it.
The Seat Alhambra is the same as the Ford Galaxy (more or less) There was a crowd that did it

but I wrote to them and they said they no longer did.
I would like to convert it myself, the pop top roof is not really necessary!
Avoiding hypothermia is my main concern!
    Thanks,

    Dave

    Hi Dave

You can use interior silver screens for covering the windows. I think the silver stuff is on ebay off the roll. Amdro in Wales use it I think, he has a Facebook page which is interesting, could always ask him.

Get a camping EHU (the ones they use for tents) and pay for electric hook up. Get a small 500w oil filled radiator, stick it on the front seat on a tray or wooden chopping board, so it stays straight, propped from underneath if poss. Then you can also have a travel kettle and a twin ring electric hob for cooking. I'd also suggest a Movelite drive away awning or utility tent, a chair and a table if poss.

You can buy really cheap silvered scrrens for inside cars at places like Wilkinson's for a few pounds, I bought some for my side windows in my little van and they worked quite well, I added some extra suckers at the bottom.

        Hi Derek,

Thanks for that Facebook Link, I have posed my question. Seems like most people just buy the materials and convert them themselves. Works out cheaper than getting an outside company to do it. Would be great if there was one supplier that could provide you with all the materials!

        Regards, David

Thanks Jay, Great tips, at this rate I should be able to convert it myself no problem!

              Hi David

I would be able to help you with the Spanish if needed.
I'm doing a 'beginner project' under 'supervision' of Derek who gave me great amount of details about a Berlingo conversion.
I have done a 70% of it, very few mistakes or funny angles, but it is possible to do it by yourself. You only need a bit of basic diy skills and full of imagination to give a touch of your personality.
              Good luck with it

              Regards

              Pablo
