    Help - Affordable Campsites

I’m going to be adding affordable campsites to my map but being a wilder I don’t have a long list. Can anyone suggest a good site to find these or even suggest a few that would be worth adding?

The price range would be less that £10/night or £12/night including electricity without being members of a club.

    Thanks in advance

Wow, that is a hard call. There are loads but tend to be CS or CLs and you have to be a member. I think it is quite hard to run a small site and not be affilliated to one of the clubs.

We never pay more than about £5 to £10 but we join in rallies held by the CCC. There are often no facilities but they are held throughout the year all over the country and you could spend the whole Spring and Summer and Autumn away and travel from North to South if you joined them up with the Temp holiday sites too.

The annual fee is well worth the money. You can join in the meets as much or little as you like. Find a quite corner and no one will bother you.

Sorry not to be able to help with more information specific to your needs.

No problem Flo, I know there’s a few e.g. the Ambleside Aire and a couple of crackers that Boxerman has suggested in Scotland.

Its not for my own use its just for the map.

Many or most of the sites listed by the Motor Caravanners Club as CLs authorised by them meet your specifications and are not limited to use by members of that Club. Click for details here:
        MCC CLs

(I don't know if there is any copyright restriction on republishing their list elsewhere.)

Thanks Sid, I stumbled across these last week and I’ve asked permission to add these to the map, just waiting on a response.

If I don’t get a response from the MCC I might contact the sites direct.

Sango Sands at Durness is about £6.50 and it's free out of season.

Tough call. I tend to go for C & C C sites as less than a tenner with EHU for me, or CSs and CLs if meeting friends. Off the top of my head I can only think of 2 non-club sites that are that cheap:

                Eastnor Castle (no EHUs) £8.50 ( £7.50 for "Seniors") - http://www.eastnorcastle.com/caravanning.aspx

                Tackeroo (no EHUs) £10 - http://www.forestry.gov.uk/forestry/...rooCaravanSite

                  Thanks Caz

I’ll add them to my list.

Plenty around the Peak District, 2 of my favourites listed below.

The Pudding Room near Carsington Water - http://www.thepuddingroomderbyshire.....php?p=6&pno=0

£5 per pitch plus £2.50 per person (no EHU) so falls within your cost restriction depending on the number of people. As the name would suggest the puddings on sale in the onsite produce shop are excellent and are all made with as many local ingredients as possible.

The Knockerdown Inn - Ashbourne. http://www.knockerdown-inn.co.uk/caravan-camping/

Again not far from Carsington Water which is a lovely area, the pub does nice food and a selection of good beers and they have recently built new showers on the camping field. Pitch fees are £5 per night plus £3 per person (£2 for under 9's, under 1's go free). No EHU here.
Better a rainy day on the hill than a sunny day in the office!

I would endorse the pudding room too, they are very obliging and even cooked a sausage for my dog!
