    Insurance for a new Roma

Hopefully we're just a few weeks away from exchanging a significant part of the life savings for a new R20. Time to get insurance quotes.

Anyone got any suggestions of companies to phone first (couple - late50's-60, clean driving licences, 10 year+ experience, full n.c. etc)?

    Thanks
    Brian

We are with SAGA they do specialist motorhome policy but I suggest you phone round several and take the best quote.

You can get an online quote from Sureterm here: https://www.sureterm.com/motorhome-q...mall-motorhome

P.S. Congrats on the van, enjoy.

We are insured with Safeguard. Not necessarily the cheapest but we have had excellent service when we have had both mechanical and accident problems. Their price also includes pan-european accident and breakdown cover.

We are also insured with Safeguard for our R25, a lot cheaper quote than like for like with SAGA.
Discount also if you are a member of club like C.C.or C and C.C.
Have had a company car for 30 years and full no claims O.K. with letter from firm. Well pleased with Safeguard.
Bet your aching in anticipation, know the feeling.

My best quote after extensive online search was from the caravan club (I'm a member) but closely followed by Camping and Caravanning club. Others were quite complex because they didn't recognise Romahome R40 for some reason on their list of motorhomes.

              Recent Insurance.

This year I changed from Saga to Safeguard. Great to hear a good report of it as I haven't been with it long enough to judge. As a member of the Roma Club I had a reduction of £16. See the Roma Club web-site for details of which insurance companies offer discounts for membership.

                  Hi,

I have just changed from the camping and caravan club to a caravan club policy. Both clubs offer a comprehensive and reasonable policy to members.

Several years ago my six month old caravan was stolen together with awning, possessions etc. I received payment from the Caravan Club for the complete claim, without quibbles, in 5 weeks from the date of the theft. The independent assessor said that they usually were the fastest to settle claims.

I can't comment on SAGA etc as have plenty of grey hair but not enough enough years on the clock to qualify!

I had the same experience as Theresa, the caravan club insurance paid out full insured value plus £2000 for contents without quibble and very fast, they also insure my car, full comp,at a good price.
                    Im happy with them.

I'm also looking Bryan - what have you decided to go with in the end? Any pointers you think I can consider in my search?

Barbara Anne - I've not started chasing yet but it looks like thanks to the folks here we'll only be trying the 3 or 4 recommended. I am expecting a call any day now from the dealer to tell me when my van might be ready, but since it is due before year-end which I assume really means before Xmas I'm just within the 30 day period for getting quotes.

I'll probably chase the dealer tomorrow to find out a target date for the van and then start calling round.

                        I'll let you know

                          Hi Barbara Anne

We are insured with Campton 01883 742460 £263 fully comp, 2 named drivers. We thought that was brilliant.

Having checked arround I use C&CC I had a good price with them for my C15 1.9, then when I exchanged it for a much bigger unit 2.5TDi Herald Squire RL the extra I had to pay was only €43 pa, I will compare quotes with CC next year as I am now also with them.
Congratulations with your new van, bet you can't wait......

After a few phone calls it appears Safeguard and Camping+Caravanning Club worked out cheapest/best for us and we elected for Safeguard.

Very excited now - Van is with Freeborn and ready for collection on Tues - the day of my Christmas pub crawl so we won't be collecting until Thurs Dec 23, just in time to have it on the drive for Christmas - and, no we won't be spending Thurs eve in it, it's too perishingly cold.

Neville has done a good job to get a plate that ends with my last two initials but I challenged him today to see if he could get xx60UKB because only a very tiny bit of doctoring and it will look like xx G0UKB, my ham radio callsign (and userid on this group). Have yet to hear.

Not too worried about the personalised plate, just looking forward to the van and our first trip!

                              What's Santa bringing everyone else?

                              Have a great Christmas!
