    Romahome downsize advert

we wanted to visit the sales at Clarks village at Street near Glastonbury so Shirley thought a one nighter away as its 45 miles great idea so stopped at Wells Holiday Park. The site is one of the very best with yellow beach pebble hard standing and good grass banks curves slopes and shapes. Most present were big caravans about 20 or so and 4 very big campervans the thing is we were at the top on our own and stood out and the R20 all shiny sleek and well balanced.............and very small.I hate to say it but the other camper vans were big ugly clumsy ladders up the back extra boxes on the roofs horrible massive lutons overhanging the cabs like square crates .......in my opinion that is .Now if just a tiny thought ran through any of their owners mind even a brief one the little R20 looked a brilliant advert to perhaps .....whisper the word....downsize[WHAT!!!) as it really is a perfect example of of a two berth motorhome .......in my opinion What do you think?

Yep! it beats me how the owners of the 'big boys' actually get them safely down country lanes, let alone keep them fed with fuel. and I agree, they are not as pretty as our vans.

Mind you, it must be nice to be able to move around inside the van a little more than we can!

It is the case of horses for courses I think. That is why there is such a variety of vans out there and so many different types of camping unit. I do think personally though that the romahome duo/outlook/r20 is perfect for the solo traveller.

I did find at a motorhome show though that many other people are fascinated by them.

Yes, I find the R20 perfect for me when camping alone eg at festivals, though a bit of a squeeze for two of us, unless we have the awning / tent up as overflow area...Or, of course, are able to sit out in the lovely sunshine to eat / relax / socialise.

Very true. A few years ago I went on a wilding meet where one person turned up in a huge monster American RV with slide-outs and equipped with everything right down to a washing machine and tumble drier. It was near impossible to negotiate the thing onto the parking field and then, once in place, it was too big to travel along even A roads so the owner was reliant upon others offering him lifts if he wanted to see any of the local area.

Some thought it was wonderful but I thought it was hideous in both appearance and concept and completely useless for virtually anything other than motorways.

OMG! I've seen these at travel shows but can't believe people actually buy and use them! I hope that, at the very least, they did everyone's washing for them whilst on the WILDING meet! Wilding? In that thing?????

I saw a gigantic fifth wheeler stuck in a small road in cornwall.I love the fact that my Roma goes anywhere,I like driving down country lanes, just could not do that in an A class.
I agree it takes all types, but for me,small is beautiful.
