    News From Romahome

    Hello all,
Thought I should let you know we have launched our new website last week www.romahome.com, as we wanted to make our site more user friendly and easier to navigate.
Early day but just one week in and we've had over 1500 "hits" and our new web enquiry facility has generated over 100 brochure requests already, many are for the R25 and a fair chunk for the R10.
There will be more photos added soon including our new 360 degree pictures which should make understanding the internal layout much clearer.

You might have noticed we've reduced the number of Romahome dealers from the end of March and its the dealers we've kept that are listed on the site.
Put simply, we wanted to focus all our efforts on a smaller network of fully supporting dealers who would stock at least one of each model and who would have a specialised Romahome aftersales facility.
If your "favourite" or nearest dealer no longer appears "sorry" but there is a method in our madness. Its been frustrating in the past when a potential customer was referred by us to a deal only to call us straight back saying "but they had no stock"!
So although our UK coverage is a little sparse at least we know the dealer will be able to talk knowledgeably about al things Romahome
As they say, its quality not quantity that counts.

If you have any feedback about the site, our models or ant questions about Romahome the company, please let me know

    Kind regards

    Brian Bailey
    MD Romahome.

The new site is looking lovely Brian, easier to navigate than the old one.

Thanks for the link to Graham's wonderful efforts on the promotion of the Dimension. There should be more coming soon once we can get out and about and do some nice weather filming. Any excuse eh?

Great new site Brian, having tried it from all angles it didn't break! And very informative with a good mix of video to keep it moving. I must say that the previous Forum was a disapointment and it needs constant attention which is why I would be inclined to agree with Graham that you already have a great asset here to use. I notice the new Roma Club website is being overhauled and also gives a good steer to this site, so perhaps we have convergence of interests.

            Hi Brian

I was not pleased to read of the reduction in dealerships, I doubt that my next Motorhome will be a Romahome. I like the Model I have at present and was looking to upgrade in the next year or 2. My nearest dealership was 9 miles away from me, quite handy when I needed a problem sorted out.
I have checked your new website and it appears my nearest dealership is in Halifax, not very convenient for me i'm affraid. According to your site it is 88 miles away from me. according to aa route finder it is 125 miles. Both sites cannot be right. Either way not particularly handy. So I will be looking at another small motorhome model as a replacement.

            Regards Geordie

It's always nice to have a dealer near to hand, but in 30 years and 10 motorhomes I don't think I have ever bought one from less than fifty miles away, and some of them were private sales with no comeback. I once had a Devon, the right van for the time, and they are manufactured near Durham, (I live in Essex), and have no dealers. When that needed work they sent a driver to my home from the LDV dealership in Cambridge and took the van away and brought it back repaired.

My current van is a Romahome, from a dealer about 80 miles away and out of four events it has only been back once. The others were an electronic problem, a specialist from the suppliers came to my home to fix it; a duff battery, sourced locally and paid for by Freeborns; and a Citroen recall, handled by local dealer. So no complaints on service there.

There are some European vans I wouldn't buy because of the lack of backup in the UK. Equally there are some dealers I wouldn't buy from, whatever they sold. So,speak as you find, I want a van that suits my current lifestyle, from a manufacturer I trust and from a dealer who will work with me in case of a complaint. How far away they are comes a bit further down my list. But that's only MY list, everybody has their own values and I have every respect for them.

I see the expiry date is given as 04.11.2010. At first I thought strange We haven't reached 4th November 2010, but then realised it must be the American date system April 11th 2010. Very odd though, I'd have thought Romahome would have made sure the name was O.K. to use. Ann

The website seems to be working OK now. But it's an awfully long way to get to a dealer now - could Romahome not at least have more aftersales coverage? There's no-one in the North East at all - that means I'm 120 miles from a dealer.

It was showing as expired for quite a time, seems strange that such a big company should let their website domain expire, they did exactly the same thing last year, it is feasible that a rival company could buy the domain and leave them having to find another and losing all the traffic to the site.

We set our domain up on a direct debit so that it renews automatically.
