We camped at Sheepcote Valley Caravan Club site, which is to the east of Brighton just below the racecource and above Brighton Marina. If you look on Google maps it's part of East Brighton Park. We walked into Brighton along the promenade that runs from the Marina. From the site, to Brighton Pier took us about 40 minutes, easy walking pace. As with all Caravan Club sites, the facilities are always excellent, but they come at a cost, especially if you are not a Club member. We are members, and for the two of us, it cost about £20.00 per night, with EHU. A well spaced site, very flat, 10 minutes walk to the sea, very nice!
Yes, I agree Sheepcote Valley is a lovely camp site but as Alan says very expensive and also very popular you may have trouble getting in at short notice especially if you want weekends it may be booked up.
