I've just come back from a trip down to the Dordogne. Went down with a friend who is building a house down there and we stopped at about 6 sites from Rouen, to Chartres, Amboise, Angoulleme, Perigeux, Cognac and then on to a little place near Souillac.
Found driving in France much easier than I thought and just stopped at a site without having to book. Tolls were fairly easy to negotiate and I just loved the Cognac region.
Stayed with some other friends who live down there for a few days and then drove back up on my own to Calais and through the tunnel. I'm feeling quite liberated at the moment and am planning to go to a rally near Benidorm early March for 4 or 5 weeks.
