Romahome Drive Away Awning Wanted

Hi all,
Does anybody have a Drive Away Canvas Awning that they want to sell that is suitable for use on a Hytop Romahome preferably with curtains etc. We do not like the Movelite type as we prefer the more substantial canvas types like the Harrison etc. We live in North West (Preston) area but we would be willing to travel up to 50 miles for the right item. If you have a suitable one would you please let us know the make and the price that you would like. Thank you.

Hi Pauljack

Sorry to hear about the Hytop. I suppose you will have seen the C15 Hylo at Motorlands at the far end of Warton. It's been there a few weeks now but I've not had a proper look at it.

The first Romahome we saw (knowingly) was a Hylo, over 10 yrs ago, and we still have a soft spot for that model.

If you see a Duo with a flying saucer aerial on the roof round your way it will be me - it's my only vehicle so it's used for shopping etc.

Hi Keith and Graham,
Thank you for your kind messages, we were really gutted that we could not buy the Romahome but it had too much water ingress in the roof lining as a result of rain coming in through the sky lights and the seller omitted to tell us about the wet and the stains until we got there!! We have seen the HyLo at Motorlands but we thought that it was a little over priced at £7000 for a 1994 (L) model, what do you think?

Romahomes do seem to hold their prices. Ant's got a P reg Hylo in for £8750, but it will have been checked over and brought up to scratch by THE expert. A year and a half ago I bought the Duo (T reg 74000miles) and it was a part-ex just being passed on as it was. I've no regrets.

I don't know anything about Motorlands but they won't be Romahome experts like Ant.

Got to agree with Wheelmon, it might seem a long journey down to Ant in Bristol from where you are, but you will get a good deal and will know that you get a good van, fit for the road

Reading through my last post again I think I might have been misleading.
It may sound as though I bought the Duo from Ant. I also missed the price I paid which was £9400, and from whom I bought it. I took a big chance buying off a second hand car dealer who was simply 'selling it on'.

I was trying to compare the difference in prices.

The three comparisons were:

i) Motorlands - motorhome dealer price but unknown condition/preparation.

ii) Ant - motorhome dealer who is a known Romahome specialist. The best preparation.

iii) My big risk!! As it happens I was lucky in that nothing serious showed up (--yet!).

Knowing now what I've learned from this website/forum I would certainly make (ii) my first port of call.

Paul I have a Hytop Romahome Canvas Awning drive away. It is the proper Romahone one with curtains. It has not been used much and as I sold my van and it is not being used. I would be happy to let it go for eighty five pounds sterling (£85) I live in the Peak District (Mappleton nr Ashbourne). There are some very good camping spots in the area.
