    Campervan electrical problem

Thanks for suggestion. Don't know why it never gives us problems in Ireland.
Have a few other things to try but wont know til we test them in France.

    Similar electric problem

Hi we had a similar problem in France but I eventually found the problem to be at the mains inlet socket on the side of the van. The live and the neutral cable had sheared where they entered the socket. This would give an intermittent supply as they would sometimes connect.
I stripped down the outside socket, not too easy, pulled enough cable through to make a new connection and it worked fine. I think the problem is the constant use of the socket i.e. the up and down motion to insert the supply cable.
Hope this is of use to you.

We've had problems hooking up to electricity in france. No problems in Ireland but tripped out in france and after switching on and off the main switch a few times it worked??? It happened in all the sites. We had someone look at it in France but didn't solve it. Again no problem when we returned to Ireland. Would really appreciate any ideas as we are due to go to France next week and not looking forward to repeat problems. Tnx[/QUOTE]

Having just returned from France we found about half the sites had reversed polarity, it can be dangerous so it's as well to have the testing plug and the reversing lead. We also found a site where the EHU was a cable and a half away from the pitch. Having met this before we carry a 'short' cable to join up, it also comes in handy when the EHU is close, saves un winding the long cable.
    Enjoy France

It's not unknown for the occassional French sites to have their mains polarity reversed - most folk get a small polarity reversing lead made up to go between the site supply and your EHU lead - and also take with them a small mains plug ( Polarity Checker ) that indicates correct mains polarity in the van by way of led lights - available at most good camping suppliers over here.
