    Wax or Equivalent.

Hi Ant, need to give a 2008 R20 a good old clean and polish before the onset of winter. What type of "Wax" would you recommend. Seem to remember a product by the name of "Mer" some years ago which was pretty good, I think it came from the marine industry. your thoughts would be appreciated.

    Many Thanks.

    Geoff.

I'm not a fan of Mer looks good first then goes blotchy. and cream wax with high silicone content would be ok. Auto glym, Farecla G10, etc

        Hi Geoff
Have a look at these two products,I have heard good reviews and seen fantastic results from the first one and can vouch that the second one for the price is a cracking product for a quick wipe over! I use the carplan one its not messy and shines in a second,I also use Mer which is also very good and another favourite is Auto Glym but can work out expensive.

Like Ant, I cannot understand the enthusiasm for Mer. I have never obtained satisfactory results even in the short term. Many of the cream wax car polishes produce a better result. I find Auto Glym easy to obtain and very good.

Am addicted to using the Showroom Shine from Ideal World, not cheap at about £10 a bottle and that is half price, but best polish I've ever used. No need for water, so easy to use when on sites.
Bundled with Brilliant Black which rejuvenates all the black bits, bumpers etc and tyres.

              C15 lost its sparkle

My c15 looks quite dull - even though I have tried and tried to clean and polish it since I got it 7 months ago. Looking at the earlier posts, I am confused - it seems that I should be using different products on the cab (metal) and the romahome bit - I've been using white car wax on both to little effect - I probably need more elbow grease but that is in short supply!!

Used back to black on the bumpers and trim but it doesn't last at all.

Given that it will have to be elbow grease - I don't have any fancy polishers - which products should I get?

                Hi Cedas.
I use "Farecla G3" on very dull Romahome bodies, it can be used on the cab too. Use it with a very damp cloth, almost dripping wet to make it easier. Only do a small area at a time ( 1/4 of the body), once you've polished an area you can wash off the residue and then once dry can wax polish the clean area to great effect. Doing it this way there is minimal effort for 90% of the result if you do it as per bottle instructions.

thansk .Will buy some of this Farecla stuff. Is it OK to use ordinary car wax/polish on the romahome body - the fibreglass bit?

                    Hi Cedas.
Once you've got the GRP nice and clean with the Farecla you can polish the body with ordinary car wax.
