    C15 Romahome - Alternative Engines

    Hello all

I'm a relatively new member and for the last two years a happy owner of a '97 Romahome HiLo. Sadly she's reached the stage where she needs an engine transplant.

I imagine that over the years lots of owners have considered fitting the legendary Xud 1.9TD as an alternative to the standard 1769 cc engine .

Anyone any experience/advice to offer on the possibility ?

    Thank you

Best wishes to the legendary Ant in his retirement .

    Hi Deano,

An alternative might be to look at the DW8 engine that I think was fitted to the Berlingo, amongst others. This is because it was also factory fitted to late C15 Romahomes. Hettie the '51 plated C15 Hylo has a DW8 fitted ad it is noticeably more powerful. About 10BHP more, I think and Hettie genuinely sits at 70 on the motorway if required. She is positively sprightly compared to my old C15 Hylo, Henrietta.

    Might be worth looking at?

I think the 1905 xud engine might be an easier swap than a DW8 as it has some basic electronics where the 1905 does not
