Back seats in a Citroen C15

Has anyone ever fitted one or more back seats to a Citroen C15?

There was a version built that had rear seats, but my understanding is they have a different floorpan. I was wondering if it would be possible to retrofit one into a standard C15 van from 2005. It would need to be legal to drive with a passenger in it (so seatbelts are a must), and hopefully be the sort that can swivel, so I could be sociable when parked up.

Any thoughts/advice welcome (other than buy a new van, I love my quirky little C15!).

Many years ago we had a Seat Terra van, I fitted back sears to that with seat belts and got an engineers report (I also put windows in) for insurance and we used it as a family car for many years.

Before that I had both mini vans and escort vans with rear seats.

I am sure that you can find some seats to fit, perhaps minibus seats with built in seatbelts or some of those fitted on rails in VW transporter motorhome conversions, I just think that you need to investigate all the options.

    Good luck

    Peter

The version I think you mean with seats was th Duo+ on a berlingo base. We have one and they are nice comfy seats but do not swivel. They have a belt system in frame so if you could get one and cut C15 grp box and bolt it solidly down that might work. Seat folds so original cushion should fit on top for bed. You'd probably have to get an engineers report for insurance as has already been said.

        Hi Peter

I think that Chris is talking about a C15 van not a Romahome

This site sells van seats https://www.vangadgets.co.uk/index.html, the Nemo type seat might fit. At least it will give some idea of what is possible

Oops must have had Romahomes on the brain. Need to read more carefully

A Duo+ seat would still probably fit ok ,if you can bolt it down properly.
It depends if the van has a rear footwell. I think a plate maybe spot welded over rear footwell. Duo seats have built in belts so helps and does fold allowing possibility of making a bed on top if needed.

            Hi Chris,
just had another idea. Have you checked the seats on the Citroen Visa car.
The C15 was based on that. You might find you have a removeable blanking plate for the rear footwell . It might even have the bolt holes for seat and belts.
There is a visa mot'd near Tiverton, Devon £250 bid at moment on Ebay with a day to run.

It would definitely be worth a look, when I did our seat terra I got the seat from a Seat Marbella and made the brackets to fit. It helped that Seat nade a vehicle called a Terra Vista which was the van with windows and rear seats. I had a good look at one of those to get the idea.

I think that you will need to plan a holiday to France to inspect C15 vans with back seats and perhaps visit a scrap yard to get the parts you need.

                Perhaps I should.

It must be awful for me, having to go to France to research old vans. :so happy:
