Hello my name is Gloria but friends call me Glo. I am not new to camping and I have a VW Trident which I love with a passion. My sister and her husband live in Gibraltar and Spain....their Spanish house looks across to N. Africa and it has long been an ambition of mine to drive dow to Cadiz and on to see them. My brother-in-law knows Morocco very well and will make a great escort;they have a motor home. I would welcome advice on a campsite within a 3 mile drive of Santander. Then I would continue the 6/7 hr trip to Algeciras the following day.Any advice would be welcome or even to join others in convoy. I was thinking of making the trip early in April.

Hi Glo,
That sounds like a wonderful trip to make. I've never been much of a globe trekker (no passport) but the thought of going further afield is kind of attractive now we have the van. Probably never do it though...The idea of going in a convoy is much more reassuring for a home girl like me! I think I should head for the Normandy coast as a first attempt. We got a free ferry ticket when we bought the van but needed to have booked the trip by the end of Feb. In our usual organised fashion, we didn't get it done. Use it or lose it. We lost it

Hi Glo,(that sounds like a safety vest?)
Never ventured as far down as Spain in the van , not got past the Dordogne yet. Will have to do it one day.

Take the plunge you won't regret it. It's nice not to be treated like lepers by the local councils as here, and welcomed by the local people.
Go, for a long weekend as we are in early April, and suck it and see. You will be back for more I reckon. We are going to Honfleur for 3 nights as many sites are open then. Using ACSI card the prices are 11/13 or 15 Euros a night with shower and electric.(and the diesel is cheaper).
If you live a long way from the Channel could be a trek to Dover though.
